Numbat vs. Numbat Small – which chest pack will you choose?

4 min. reading

Intro – your challenge

In the field, quick access to gear, comfort, and mobility are essential. To grab something from your backpack, you have to stop, take it off, and open it – which can be inconvenient and time-consuming. We want to give you maximum choice and flexibility, which is why we’re constantly experimenting and testing new solutions to deliver products that truly work. Like the Numbat chest pack, for example.

Both versions – classic and compact – let you carry essential gear on your chest, always within reach and easy to access. Take a look at their differences and similarities, and choose the one that suits you best.

Chest Pack Numbat – if you need capacity

Numbat is a versatile chest pack with a capacity of 3 liters, designed for longer trips and more demanding tasks. Made from durable Cordura® 500D, it ensures long-lasting performance in tough field conditions. Its thoughtful construction includes multiple pockets and organizers to help you keep your gear sorted and accessible. The front panel features MOLLE/PALS webbing for easy customization and gear expansion, while an elastic cord at the bottom allows for attaching extra equipment. Thi version is also compatible with the VIS system. Despite its solid specs – 28 × 18.5 × 6 cm and 479 g – it remains comfortable and highly functional on the move.

Chest Pack Numbat Small – if you prefer minimalism

Numbat Small is a compact version created for minimalists who value lightness and simplicity. With a 2.6-liter capacity and dimensions of 23 × 15 × 5 cm, it weighs only 207 g, making it ideal as a handy pouch for essential items. Made from the same durable Cordura® 500D, it offers solid reliability in the field. On the front, there’s a flat zippered pocket and MOLLE/PALS webbing for attaching additional gear. The Small version is also compatible with the VIS system, and its biggest advantage over the larger model is its detachable shoulder straps – allowing you to wear it not only on your chest but also as a waist pack.
